TRI-COUNTY YOUTH SERVICES BUREAU OBSERVES YOUTH SERVICE DAY ON SATURDAY, APRIL 21, 2018
On Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, Tri-County Youth Services Bureau will join Youth Service America in celebrating Global Youth Service Day. GYSD is the largest service event in the world and the only one that celebrates the contributions that children and youth make 365 days of the year. The event will take place at 75 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, MD, 20602.
Youth ages 5 to 25 are encouraged to participate in activities that focus on healthy living and emphasize civic responsibility. There will be opportunities to work in the community vegetable garden, clean up Henry Ford Circle, learn about nutritious meals, and how to avoid nicotine products. Youth volunteers will earn community service hours.
Community service is the highest calling that any child, youth or young adult can answer while growing up. Tri-County Youth Services Bureau encourages community service so that youth can establish their place in the world, for it gives them a sense of value beyond their immediate family and the chores they do at home. Youth Service Day provides an opportunity for young people to realize that there is power in giving, for it is in giving that we receive.
There is no charge for the event which will also include music, face painting and youth empowerment activities. Adults are invited to show their support for our youth.
