The Ready4Life-Southern Maryland website forms part of a Public Awareness Campaign to promote resources that are available to “Opportunity Youth” (16-24-year-olds who are not in school and not working) in Southern Maryland.
Over a series of four two-day seminars from May to December 2017, representatives from Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties participated in the Maryland Governor’s Office for Children Opportunity Youth Results Based Leadership (RBL) Program, facilitated by The Annie E. Casey Foundation.
During the program, leaders had an opportunity to apply results-based leadership skills, tools and methods to accelerate the achievement of better results for youth and young adults who are neither in school or working.
The success of this initiative will be measured by:
⦁ How Much?
^ The number of Opportunity Youth who are aware of services
^ The number of community members who are aware of services available to Opportunity Youth
⦁ How Well?
^ The number of Opportunity Youth who are connected to services
^ The number of Opportunity Youth who are enrolled in education, job training, and career readiness programs
⦁ Is Anyone Better Off?
^ The number and percentage of Opportunity Youth who complete education and training programs
^ The number and percentage of Opportunity Youth who retain employment within a given period (six months to one year)
